First Impression: (Interviewer's Notes)
Dr. Cid is one of those people who can confuse others with a simple sentence or look. While in the classroom or wandering the halls of the University in general, the good doctor is a kind and collected soul. He has something of an infectious personality during these times, students drawn to him for help not just in the science fields, but all other courses of study. Cid cares deeply for his students and will do whatever he can to help them pass. (Failing students just depress him so.) It is for these reasons and these reasons alone that many students sign up for his classes each semester.

But unlike the side he shows to his students, when in his lab or office, the good doctor does a complete 180 in personality. There have been many of times when colleagues have overheard him talking out loud to his pet raven, Venat, and many times he has been spied talking to thin air. His work consumes his mind and when working on his research, he becomes obsessive to the point of sometimes forgetting the rest of the world exists. It’s as if he has fallen into his own little world with no one but Venat there to guide him.

Background Check:
Not much is known about the past life of Dr. Cidolfus as he rarely speaks to anyone about it. What is known is that he and his wife were married very young, having met while graduate students at the University and during their time together had three sons. Cidolfus was soon on his way to becoming a doctor and his wife decided to stop where she was in school and work on raising their children, supporting Cid in all his work. Everything about their life seemed normal as one would expect for such a seemingly happy growing family, but appearances can be deceiving.

It was just after the birth of their third son, Ffamran that Dr. Cid began to delve further and further into his work, saying that he was closer then he ever had been before to discovering the true power of a newly found crystal substance known as Nethicite. He would spend long hours at the University, working nonstop in his labs and office on a project that he would not speak about to anyone. He had no need for assistants and every person who asked about the research was seen as a prospective spy in his mind due to his growing obsession and, to be frank, insanity. Cid began to grow further and further away from his family, hardly even acknowledging his sons and only mumbling to his wife before going to bed or leaving the house. Mrs. Bunansa’s worry and fear for her husband grew with each passing day until she finally confronted him about how closed off he had become only to find herself running smack into the walls he seemed to have surrounded himself with. This, of course, was the last straw and while he was hard at work at the University one night, his wife and children left.

Now, for most this would be what one could call a ‘reality check’, but sadly Cid hardly seemed to notice. The first day after they had left, he stayed home, canceling his classes and hiding away in his house in Winhill in what most thought to be the beginnings of depression. How wrong they were though, for the next day the good doctor was back at work but this time with a companion. A sleek black raven that he had dubbed Venat seemed to be his replacement for the family that had been lost and from that day forward he was never seen without the creature. Dr. Cid began to throw himself into his work even more so then he had before, sometimes even spending the night at the University to work on his unknown Nethicite related research.

While still the good and kind doctor that the students knew and had come to respect, there was something else there, something that his colleagues began to worry about..and many believed it had to do with his research and the strange creature he had become so close with.
